Employee Candidate:
The Landscape Designer will work as part of a diverse project team on landscape architectural and planning projects. Tasks will include all aspects of sustainable landscape and site design and construction drawing documentation including planting, irrigation, and hardscape. The candidate should have a working knowledge and understanding of South Florida ecosystems and plant material, be able to interpret local codes and requirements.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, problem solver and must demonstrate the ability to work at a high level with others as a part of a collaborative project team. Candidate must have a strong work ethic, be focused and communicative.
Skills Required:
This position requires outstanding organizational skills as well as excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work at a variety of project scales from planning to detail design is important, as is knowledge of landscape and hardscape materials and systems.
Strong experience preparing construction documents.
The ideal candidate will have a high proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with Land FX desired.
Be proficient in Adobe Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience in 3D modeling software including Revit, Enscape, and SketchUp, and high-quality hand graphics desired but not mandatory.
Education Requirements: The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited academic institution, and 4-7 years of professional experience. Dual degrees are welcome; however, one must be landscape architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct site visits, documenting findings with accurate photographic evidence.
Conduct comprehensive site evaluations, analyzing environmental factors, topography, soil conditions, and existing vegetation.
Prepare various documents such as master plans, construction plans, reports, and specifications adhering to company and industry standards.
Create visual graphics and renderings for plan views and illustrative purposes, utilizing both computer-generated and hand-drawn techniques.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including civil engineers, scientists, architects, and planners to seamlessly integrate landscape elements into overall site development plans.
Create detailed landscape designs encompassing planting plans and hardscape features.
Prepare construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates in alignment with industry standards and local codes, utilizing CAD software and other design tools.
Incorporate sustainable design principles into projects, including native plant selection, water conservation strategies, and stormwater management solutions.
Demonstrate knowledge of local plant materials and ensure compliance with Florida-friendly landscaping guidelines.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, city, and county jurisdictions.
Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform design decisions and ensure compliance.
Visit project sites to coordinate with contractors and monitor construction during the project build/installation process
Manage and respond to RFIs as needed
