Curtis + Rogers Design Studio has developed a comprehensive master plan for Margaret Pace Park — a key public open space within the Edgewater neighborhood and an important link along Biscayne Bay. The plan establishes a long-term framework for the park’s renewal, balancing recreation, access, and ecological resilience. Our team led site analysis, community engagement, and design development to address the park’s pressing environmental challenges, including tidal flooding, shoreline erosion, and limited tree canopy. The resulting master plan integrates nature-based infrastructure, expanded shade and planting, and accessible recreation areas designed to perform under future sea-level and storm conditions. Phase One of implementation focuses on the waterfront and baywalk, introducing a stabilized and ecologically enhanced shoreline with native vegetation, new seating and overlooks, improved pedestrian connectivity, and a resilient edge designed to accommodate rising tides. Subsequent phases will retrofit the park’s interior — replacing aging hardscape with pervious surfaces, relocating and upgrading recreation facilities, and incorporating green infrastructure to improve drainage and thermal comfort.
