Jose Marti Park Adaptive Redesign
City of Miami, FL
The 13-acre multi-use recreational space is located along the Miami river, at the eastern edge of a historically low-lying and low-income Hispanic community, East Little Havana. Given its location along the Miami River in an area with high development pressures, extensive solar studies and radiation models were conducted to verify existing and future site conditions.
Through our GLab platform support that combines applied research with the assistance of cutting-edge software we analyzed proposed and future design conditions, to minimize heat stress by providing simulation modeling software assistance to evaluate human comfort in the different areas of the park. These studies informed the design to reduce urban island effect, determine effective tree canopy location, planting viability and adequate plant selection.
