Jackson Memorial Hospital North

Curtis + Rogers was hired to prepare a Landscape Master Plan for the Jackson Memorial Hospital- North Campus, a 14.5-acre facility located in the City of North Miami Beach. Our goal was to improve the campus’ physical conditions to better fit the goals of providing a pleasant, welcoming, sustainable, and simple way of experiencing the campus. Our proposal uses the “blue ribbon”- universal symbol of excellence, as a signature element expressed throughout the campus. The wavy “blue” pathway cuts through the landscape leading to a central community plaza that can be used for gatherings or a passive park for reflection and solitude. Throughout the site, outdoor respite nodes are introduced for patients/ family as well as doctors and nurses. Elements of care and Jackson’s mission statement are intermixed with the landscape; words such as “community, compassion’ healing and care” appear in different wayfinding elements along the path, and in the plazas.
