Wilke D. Ferguson Federal Courthouse

Miami, FL | Photography by Robin Hill

This project is sited on two downtown city blocks adjacent to the existing Federal Court buildings, with 80 percent of this site being open space. The area immediately adjacent to the building is a lawn designed by Maya Lin with seating at the perimeter.  Between the lawn and the street is a perimeter of vegetation 30-90 feet in width.  This area is an urban arboretum consisting of a large variety of subtropical trees and palms.  Large shaded public seating areas are available throughout the site and provide a much needed green space in a very urban setting.
